Synopsis: 

Rubel, a 14 year old teenager, smuggles rice from India to Bangladesh, crossing the Gange river that separates the two countries. He lives with his family on a island located on this river that once took away his house. In order to survive, all the people from Char take part in illegal activities. They smuggle livestock, alcohol, and other goods under the noses of the border patrols. The fight to survive gives Rubel enough courage to dream of a better future.

 

Bio Director: 

Sourav Sarangi joined the FTII in Pune to learn film editing. Currently he is involved in international co-productions as an independent producer and director. The few documentaries and fictions won awards worldwide. He has also worked for television channels in India as a programming director.
