Being a professional writer means writing with the other person. It’s about putting your writing at the service of the other person’s intentions. It’s an attempt to lessen the void created for many of us by schools, institutions and the knowledge-based society. It’s about questioning the access to knowledge for all and giving a voice to those who other- wise wouldn’t have one. Being a professional writer also means listening and creating relation that though unexpected seem so natural.
Valérie Vanhoutvinck was born in Brussels in 1968. After studying script/editing at INSAS, she took a course in theater and Italian Cinema History at the Universita di Peruhia and got a Bachelor of Arts and Communication Sciences at the University of Liege. She directs documentaries and creates and runs workshops on narrative and formal research within various communities.
