A newlywed couple finds refuge in a small room in the center of New Delhi. In escaping from their families and the social norms, which condemn their love, they risk their lives. But the activist group “Love Commandos” help them to avoid persecution from India’s ancient tradition of prohibiting marriage outside one’s caste or religion. Even though the caste system has been offcially abolished, will it ever be possible in India to marry out of love? Families are also faced with a dilemma: should they comply with tradition or put their children's happiness first?
Gianpaolo Bigoli got his degree in Communication Science at the University of Reggio Emilia in 2005. He also attended the Ipotesi Cinema School in Bologna. He worked with Ermanno Olmi on several documentaries. In 2008 he founded Wendy Film, his production company. He has made various documentaries around the world, particularly in Bosnia, Nepal, India, Egypt, Congo and Israel.
