In the mountains you might meet Asad whose house was one of those flooded when the “Karun-3” dam was built. His love for the mountain and the jungle constantly bring him back and when the dam workers have gone, he approaches the place where his house used to be. The dam not only destroyed his village, it also changed the people, their way of life and the entire ecosystem. Nothing is as it was.
Mahmoud Rahmani began making documentary films in 2003. His concern for the ethnography and atmosphere of southern Iran is notable in his films. After a couple short films, he directed his first documentary Naft Sefid in 2005. His second documentary Zero Degree Orbit received over 15 awards. His documentary My mother, Oak received an honorable mention at the Munich Documentary Film Festival.
