The young Cocada dreams of becoming a truck driver. Since his father was murdered, he found a surrogate father, Mineiro, a truck driver that supports him and takes time to talk to him. Nego lives in a favela, surrounded by many brothers and sisters. His mother would like him to get an education but he only thinks about making money. In the evening, he hangs out at the station, fascinated by the shops and the abundant food. At night, at the gas station, the two friends watch the never-ending traffic of trucks and travelers. All speak of this great country that they know so little about.
After a long experience in theater with Armand Gatti, Jean-Pierre Duret became boom operator. He then became a sound engineer on films of Maurice Pialat, Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne, Jacques Doillon, Agnès Jaouis, François Ozon,... With Andrea Santana, he directed the documentaries Romances de terre et d'eau in 2001, Le rêve de São Paulo in 2004 and Puisque nous sommes nés in 2008.
Andrea Santana was born in Northeast Brazil in 1964. She had a degree in architecture and urban planning. In 2000, she becomes a documentary filmmaker with Jean-Pierre Duret. Together they direct the documentaries Romances de terre et d'eau in 2001, Le rêve de São Paulo in 2004 and Puisque nous sommes nés in 2008.
