Synopsis:

Rumidjah can't stand the chaos in Jakarta, whereas the Islamic government is trying to maintain order while becoming more and more radical. When her son converted to Islam to marry a Muslim girl, Rumidjah seriously considered leaving the city to live in the country where it is safe. The only thing keeping her from leaving is her granddaughter Tari. In the country, there is no future for the youth, since jobs are disappearing with the increasing mechanization of farms. The only reassurance Rumidjah has is that her granddaughter will receive a better education in the city and will certainly go further in life.

This edition will display a retrospective of the films of Leonard Retel Helmrich. This atypical filmmaker pushed the independence of directing towards its last entrenchments. He developed devices that enable him to shoot and record the sound all by himself while preserving a very high quality.
