The film shares the life of a tiny village in Northern Greenland with a population of barely 60 people. Dogs outnumber people and jobs are close to zero. Four townsfolks reveal their daily life: Lars, the only teenager; Karl, the hunter who has never really acknowledged that Lars is his son; Ilanngauq, the outsider who moved here to be with his wife that he met online; and Annie, the elder. Filmed over the course of a year, this well-constructed drama shows the fragility of the economic and ecological future of this community, in spite of it all its hardy inhabitants.
Sarah Gavron's feature debut film, Brick Lane, earned her a BAFTA nomination for The Carl Foreman Award and the New Talent Award at the London Film Festival. Her first feature, This Little Life, won the BAFTA for Best Director among other awards. Her current film is about the suffragettes.
